OLD WHARF | Residential Interiors | OC, Maryland
When our client bought a former client's home we were put to the task! How do you change the furnishings to evoke a completely different feeling but still keep the integrity of the bones and elevated builder details? Our client loved many small details in the house that boasted homage to the O.C. Life Saving Museum such as pitched eaves, a widow's peak, a rope ladder affixed to the wall, and porthole-inspired accent windows. However, his wife had other thoughts of a softer vibe for her happy place & respite. We therefore softened the hard-scaped masculine architecture with furnishings of a light, airy neutral & blue palette. Utilizing beiges, tone-on-tone neutrals & whites for all the main upholstery, we added texture & coastal colors in accent pillows, throws, lighting, art, and area rugs. Finally,we adorned each room with accessories of sea-inspired elements and layered the walls with seascapes, waterfowl & sealife bringing the outdoors in.
This was our 2nd home to be part of the O,C. Art League Sandcastle Home Tour and one of our favorites.
